S. Reeson

///trending.dabbling.politics

how did the few     allow this
why did we sit on our hands
how is it their existence          is reduced to nothing

as shadows eat
this  stolen land
it’s been two years now listening    to cries for help

watching death in real time
ignored     then covered up
even when ‘truth’ emerged    it became too terrible

was ignored and covered up
now          the lives are gone
wiped out look outside grey ash is all that survived

the bigger problem has been
solved       the rest will starve
existence properly destroyed
you           cannot arrest truth

yet still its tried     as the convictions
prove            what cannot be denied
how racism destroys from the inside
breaking news                 yes this is  REDACTED

S. Reeson [she/they] is 59 and neurodivergent. They have been published by The Poetry Society and Bloomsbury/OneWorld with their work also appearing in over 30 independent publications, established literary magazines and anthologies since 2018, most notably Ink, Sweat and Tears and Under the Radar. A debut pamphlet, Flammable Solid, was published in November 2023. They have both performed and facilitated at the Essex Book Festival, taken part in over 50 Open Mic events (both in person and online), operated Zoom Rooms for other poets (including Dr Kim Moore, Clare Shaw and Andrew McMillan) and become a mentor and advocate for poets and writers in their home town. In 2025 they supported Jen Feroze at the in-person local launch of her award-winning pamphlet A Dress with Deep Pockets. A short film was premiered as as part of the Estuary Festival in the same year, and their poetry was part of a collective, ekphrastic response to the film and music of EDM artist Alan Abrahams which was exhibited at Space Studios, Romford, between September and December. They also formed a Poetry Society Stanza group, operating both in person and online within Southend-on-Sea. In 2026 they are the Official Poet ‘in Residences’ for the Leigh Art Trail. When not writing, taking photographs or enjoying making playlists of obscure genres of music they are getting very close to being able to dead-lift their own body weight.
